Dimitri de Perrot

CONCERTS & DJ SETS

As a live musician, Dimitri de Perrot performs in a wide variety of projects, as a solo musician or in formations, both in the club sector and in improvised or experimental music, jazz, hip-hop or new music, but also as a performing musician in internationally successful theatre and dance projects.

Since 1991, Dimitri de Perrot has been mixing his sets with sound pallets from his extensive personal pool, processing different influences in an idiosyncratic way, underlaying chansons by Piaf with dub-beats, combining Tom Waits with the latest club music. Dimitri's colourful, unusual performances receive a lot of approval, but also cause a stir now and then. Initially active in the lively Zurich underground scene of the 90s, his sets have taken him to Amsterdam, London, Tokyo, as well as to renowned radio stations such as Radio Nova in Paris or New York's Village Voice Radio.

In order to find his own musical language and identity, and also to be closer to the musical sources, he sought early on to understand the turntable as an instrument in its own right and constantly expanded its range of application. In the course of time, he developed his very own form of turntabelism, which understands the turntable as a resonance body in addition to the usual applications such as scratching and looping. He combines both in his own way, turntables and sampling, as a composer of music between music.
